Its Time to vote for the Have nots for the week….
Get over To CBS and put in your vote.
Be ready to vote after Thursday’s Live Eviction for a possible returning house guest!
Well surprise and a good deal of yucks were the word around the house since the announcement Sunday that America chose to give the house guests sardines and seaweed for there have not food supplement for the week.
Here is a go at a simple sardine and seaweed salad. Flavors are balanced and make the sardines somewhat palatable. I think this would be better with a bit of cheese, but that’s not on the list!
- 1 tin sardines (drained)
- 2 Tbsp Mayo
- 2 Tbsp of strained salsa (rinse it until the sauce is gone)
- 1/4 cup of seaweed minced (dried or wet)
- 1 tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar
- 2 table spoons Relish
- 2 Tbsp minced fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon of Dijon Mustard
- Salt and Pepper to taste
In a bowl place sardines from one tin of plain sardines. Remove heads and tails if you desire ( I would totally desire!) and mince the remaining meat into smaller bits. Mix in strained salsa, minced seaweed and set aside. Mix together mayo, vinegar, relish, fresh parsley, and Dijon mustard. Pour dressing over sardine salad and mix, do not over dress. Serve in a small bowl and along side of some Porche’s Spicy Slop Chip.

Adam The Big Brother Elf of the Week! Hey Adam, why have we not seen you put popcorn on your ice cream like Donna did! Or make Mega Burgers like from the Peach Pit!
What the Have’s Are Eating!
For the Have’s, it was Brendon’s Three some caramel apples that he made with Rachel and Porche last night. Brendon started making a caramel sauce again (see yesterdays Heart Attack Popcorn).
Brendon took charge of the caramel, but Rachel saved it when she suggested adding a bit of milk which made it creamier all around, and everyone commented on its smell after it was added.
Rachel chipped in by stabbing the apples and rolling them in the caramel and then the nuts. Yummy! Pictured below on the left is Porsche’s caramel slop, which could be consumed because it is all made of the caramel ingredients which were all OK for have-nots!
It’s week three in the Big Brother house and the house guests found out that they would be treated to Sardines and Seaweed by Americas vote in addition to the regular Big Brother slop, spices and condiments they are allowed to eat when given the have-not designation.
The Have nots this week were decided as part of the HOH contest held live on Thursdays show and continued and won on the live feeds after the show. This weeks have-nots are: Jordon, Lawon and Brendon. Rachel had two days left on her two-week slop penalty she accepted in a previous power-of-veto competition. But as we go to press, that punishment will have expired.
The sardines and seaweed had a mixed reception. Jordon does not like fish, and is not a fan of the treat, she resigned herself to eating slop for the week. Lawon was excited and said he eats sardines quite a lot. Brendon claimed to have been a sushi chef in the past, and thought out-loud that he might be able to create some sort of Japanese Cuisine. We’ll see Brendon.. we’ll see.
“Inspired by sardines and seaweed, who’d a thunk it”.
The house guests were given a variety of ocean fare of the sardine kind. They talked about Whole Sardines from Whole Foods, smoked, in tomato sauce, honey mustard, boneless and sweet & sour flavored sardines. Fresh and in cans, there should be every-type of sardine available in that house.
The seaweed was delivered in the storage room, on a high shelf, in multiple green packages. The identified flavors were, spicy, sweet and sour, dried sheets and several varieties that came cold and in plastic refrigerated containers.
A cooking frenzy ensued in the house in the evening hours, and I managed to catch quite a few of the recipes that
Shelly, Brendon, Porche and Rachel were cooking up last night.
To begin with house guest Shelly, the mother of Josie (she misses that kid something fierce and speaks of her often!) and eldest house guest this season. Shelly has been feeding the house her slop pancakes all season so far. This is what I could catch of her recipe
Shelly’s Slop Pancakes ( Voted the Best by the House)
- white sugar
- cocoa powder
- vegetable oil
- baking soda
Brendon’s Slop Pancakes (2nd Prize!)
- white sugar
- olive oil
Porche’s Spicy Slop Chips (made to spread the sardine salad on!)
- slop mixture
- cayenne pepper
- olive oil
These came out really crispy and everyone complimented her on them!
Up Next, my take on what to make with the have not foods, sardines and seaweed.
It’s always my goal to make something from nothing, and don’t forget to make it good!
